What Can I Expect During My First Visit to a Chiropractor?

Although each doctor' s process will vary, generally you can expect to complete a full medical history questionnaire and "new patient" paperwork. You will then consult with the doctor. This consultation is your opportunity to express your health concerns to Dr. Nate, and to ask any questions you may have pertaining to the matter. It is also for Dr. Nate to express his role in your health care and discuss your health prognosis. A physical exam will be performed which may include orthopedic testing, reflex assessments, muscle testing, and a specific Chiropractic evaluation. X-rays may be necessary to determine an exact diagnosis. X-rays can be performed in Dr. Nate's office. After a complete review of your consultation, exam and x-rays, Dr. Nate will go over the results with you. Then, depending on your situation, Dr. Nate may perform an adjustment to your spine/extremities and/or begin physical therapy, if needed. Adjustments shouldn't be painful, although you may feel some slight discomfort until the pressure in the joint is relieved. Depending on your condition, Dr. Nate will determine the absolute best care plan, and it will be tailored specifically to your needs.
